3/22/12 > MELILLO MS PHOTOS: Students Take Trip to Galveston State Park

Earlier this March, students from Melillo Middle School took a science field trip to the Galveston State Park Estuary to have a hands-on experience observing animal adaptations and habitats. Event photos follow.



 

3/07/12 > MELILLO MS: Pennies for Patients Brings in Over $7,000

Mellilo staff and students recently surpassed their initial goal of $2,500 during the Pennies for Patients drive. The grand total amounted to $7,894.43, the largest amount ever raised by a Pasadena ISD school. The staff at Melillo would like to thank all the participants for their hard work and contribution.

Melillo recently hosted a Chess Mini-Exhibition for students on March 3. 2/21/12 > MELILLO MS PHOTO: Amaya Wins Third Straight 'Big Shoot Out' Title

Melillo fifth-grader David Amaya captured his third title in three years at the district-wide "Big Shoot Out" basketball skills competition earlier this month. Amaya (pictured below) also won titles as a third-grader and a fourth-grader.

Melillo Middle School recently announced this year's spelling bee competition winners who will go on to compete in a district-wide spell-off in February. Representing Melillo Middle is Eric Coreas Garza, pictured below. Runner-up Brian Hoang is the alternative. Event photo follows.

11/16/11 > MELILLO MS PHOTO: Costume Contest Winners for Monster Mash Announced

  To raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Pasadena ISD's Education Foundation, students were encouraged to participate in an after school Monster Mash at Melillo Middle School. Students and staff dressed up for the occasion and had a "spook-tacular" time!
  Costume contest winners were: Xochitl Martinez in a princess dress made out of magazine pages, Christian Rodriguez as Indiana Jones, Hunter Gilmore as Frankenstein and Principal Diane Wheeler as Snow White. Event photo follows.



11/16/11 > MELILLO MS PHOTOS: Student Raise Over $4,000 for Komen Foundation

  Melillo Middle School students recently raised $4,414.11 for the Susan B. Komen Foundation. Faculty at Melillo had previously challenged the students to raise at least $1,500.
  Surpassing that amount almost four times over, faculty had to keep their end of the bargain and start the morning "fresh out of bed" in rollers and robes in front of the school. Event photos follow.
