Andrew Zayas, a third-grader at Meador, captured first place in the recent Weather Museum art contest. His drawing won the third-grade division and was used as the coloring sheet at the museum on Earth Day. MEADOR ES PHOTOS: 'Sail Into Summer' Health Fair Theme

Meador hosted its first community health fair last Thursday (May 12) with a "Sailing Into Summer" theme. Faculty members wore sailor hats and 29 vendors from the Houston area participated. Students were treated to face-painting, jump-roping and a moonwalk station.

Meador students celebrated Cinco de Mayo by dressing in traditional attire and parading down the halls for the rest of the Meador student body. MEADOR ES PHOTOS: Family Fun Night Full of Laughs

Meador hosted its annual Family Fun Night recently with students and parents taking part in several laugh-filled activities. Participants played volleyball, worked on crafts and were treated to popcorn and sodas.
One highlight was a fund-raiser for leukemia research in which students donated money for pieces of tape used to "stick" Assistant Principal Beverly Bolton to the wall.

Meador students recently held a "World's Finest Chocolate" fundraiser that brought in $15,000 to be used for field trips. The top four student sellers received prizes, including an MP3 player and admission to a magic show. Meador recently hosted Dad's Night to support fathers and encourage their participation in their children's education. The guest speaker was Constable Victor Trevino, who delivered an inspiring and heartfelt message to the dads on strengthening their role as fathers.
